Orissa wakes up to adoption racket

Bhubaneswar: If you walk into an orphanage in Rourkela, chances are you will have to pay a price for the baby you adopt.

Reacting to CNN-IBN's Special Investigation the baby-selling racket in Rourkela, Orissa Women and Child Development Minister, Pramilla Mallick and Secretary Mona Sharma said that the state government will act on the matter within a week's time.

They went through the evidence presented by CNN-IBN, in which at least six adoption centres in Rourkela, including Global Village and Sahayog, have sold hundreds of babies in the name of adoption....
